Hello ;0)

I would like to share with you a better way to create a Seamless Tile...

I have attached 2 different goldbead textures the goldbeads.bmp is the original one that is found on the net in tutorials but I fixed it so that it is more seamless using a program called 20/20 which is a great program and the fixed one is goldbeads2.bmp

Check out the difference by flood filling a 500x500 and you will see the original has boxes where as the fixed version clean ;0)  20/20  works better then Quick Tile by Simple Filters and the regular psp effects seamless tile.

Install 20/20 in your programs folder it is not a filter.  However it has it's own filters to be used even page curl.  Also when you open the program it will be at the top of your desktop until you go to File an open an image and then you will see the program open up.  Go to Image tab and scroll with your mouse over the icons and you will see seamless tile click on it once, then File SAVE AS and give it a new name if you don't want to change the original image.  You can even mute a seamless background so that you can use it as your stationary background and a whole lot more...

Have fun ;0)  HUGS, Angel_AD

Good Morning Fran,

I just tried both links and they work.  When downloading 20/20 just give it 20 seconds or so and a save zip box will pop-up and then save this in your programs folder.  Save the Zip to a 20/20 folder in your programs then open the zip and extract and run it from the folder.  The other attachment beads 1 is the before and beads2 is the after...beads 2 can be put into your psp patterns to be used.  To enhance you can go to brightness, or colorize or saturation ;0)

Sometimes you just need to refresh the website page and then it works this depends on how long your pc has been on or whether the site was uploaded fully at the beginning not your fault as you would not see this.
Let me know if anything ;0)  HUGS, AngelAD:goofy:

And a good afternoon to you.  :flowers:

(I'm in the UK)
I've tried the site (for the 20/20 prog/plugIn) again and again... and still no joy.  oh, hang on..

Nope.

I use SeaMonkey as my browser you see, so I thought I'd just see if I.E could access the site instead.  It can't.

I get either a timed out error message or I get a note in the bar at the bottom of the page saying "FTP transaction completed" but either nothing has happened or something has downloaded but has done so in an odd place and without my knowing. That's not nice.

It's a shame as I was looking forward to trying out this new method of tiling on various of my photos...

Can I shake the computer now?  Lol!
:grr:

I already tried it in my usual - and visible browser - it's downloading right now!

I only still have I.E. for total and absolute emergencies as it makes websites almost unreadable for me - having a big screen I like the text set large enough to read without straining my eyes - I.E. mucks everything up.

Never mind I.E.

SeaMonkey is downloading the proggy right now!!!

Wooohooo!:goofy:

Got it!

I'm in the middle of an important render right now though so I'll have to install it later.

But thank you so much for this, I look forward to trying it out very soon.:flowers:

Got the program working now - I think.  But I don't think I'm understanding it properly.  The resolution of both goldbead images is so small that I can't tell the difference between them, and I also tried it out on a texture of mine that I wanted to tile - it dosen't do a very good job.  Looks terrible in fact.  But that's probably me just not understanding how it's supposed to work.

Is there a manual anywhere for it?

Ah... flood fill?  I'll have a look at that...

Hmmm... still having problems with it - how do you fill a 500x500 new document with the goldbead.bmp?  I can't seem to do it, all that happens when I try is the goldbead.bmp just opens...

Help?

Oh dear... It kept crashing my computer - took us a while to figure out what was doing it all night.

So I'm afraid I've had to remove it totally...

Shame.

But that's life. (sigh)

Hello Fran,

S
orry I'm a bit confused meaning what you had to remove from your computer and what went wrong???

I see in your profile you have psp X1 so I am not sure what features this newer version has as the majority now in this group has psp 9, 8, and 7, but anyhow I will try and explain as I have 9 version.

Goldbeads2 is to be put into your My Documents - My PSP Files - and then Patterns.  Now this is presuming you have windows xp. If you have MAC or Vista sorry can't help, but anyhow you put this small tile into your patterns folder and then open up psp program and then a new canvas transparent go to your flood fill tool that should look like a bucket on the right side if psp X1 looks like that then go to your colors materials and there are 3 features to choose solid; gradients; and patterns these are located in the 2 smaller boxes.  The top box is your foreground the bottom is your background and within this when you click on the color you should have 3 buttons to indicate solid; gradient and pattern.  Choose the pattern and find goldbeads2 which is alphabetical order.  Now take your flood fill bucket tool and go to your transparent canvas and left click on your mouse and Voila! your transparent background is now filled with the goldbeads 2 pattern.  You can now enhance the color by brightening it, saturation, colorizing it, etc...Let your imagination take you away ;0)

As for the 20/20 program it comes up as a taskbar on your desktop and when you open a new image then the program opens fully.  My suggestion to you and anyone reading this is to duplicate the original for I find that when you go to the Edit and you want to Undo the save icon is located right underneath this and I have made a boo boo! at the beginning.  To do the seamless Tile just click on the Tab that says Image and there you can do a seamless tile.  Just point your mouse over the icons and it will show the names of each icon.  The reason for the 2 goldbead patterns I have provided is for those that want to put the both patterns into their folder to see the before and after effect using the 20/20 program.

I just now did another pattern that when I flood filled it the pattern was cut-up into squares so I first tried psp seamless tile, and then Mehdi filter and then Simple Quick Tile and none of them worked, but then I did the 20/20 and not one cut off and beautifully seamless.  Making patterns into tiles should be no more than 200x200 otherwise the bigger the size will take a bit to upload into your program.  Try going for 100 x 100 or smaller always but if the pattern has for say flowers that you want to capture most of it then go for the 200x200.

Also not only can 20/20 make Tiles but it can be used to make a nice big wallpaper for your desktop and much more, and you can even lower the opacity almost transparent to be used in emails, etc...as for manual go to help in the task bar and click on Contents.

As I said previously just put goldbeads2 into your patterns folder for this one is fixed.  My other suggestion is to buy a used book on PSP X1 by Ebay or whatever online or book store you go to.  This will give you the basics on what the tools are for the color materials, palette layers, etc...I had bought psp 7 for dummies and the idiot's guide for 7 and now I have from Roger a member here ;0) in the group the PDF format for psp 9 which my husband can print out for it has over 300 pages.  I had found George's wonderful offer in the Beginner tuts ;0) and greatly appreciate it as I would like more details on Scripts for I see that when I browse through the manual on the computer this time they aimed psp 9 towards what we are doing where as psp 7 did not really aim towards the graphics.

A
lso do a google on how to's with paint shop pro and tutorials will pop-up ;0)

Well I hope you got this and all is good with your pc ;0)
